Junior Honour Band

This year’s Saskatchewan Junior Honour Band for the North was fantastic.  Jennifer Tenford from Moose Jaw was our conductor.  Lee Adams, Dale Malden, Yvonne Kurpjuweit, and Michael Kurpjuweit were the coordinators.  Tommy Douglas Collegiate High School in Saskatoon was our venue.

Students came from 10 different communities for this year’s band: Archerwill, Dalmeny, Lloydminster, Melfort, Outlook, Preeceville, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Tisdale, and Vanscoy. In fact, there were 68 of us, mostly grade 8’s making up the band.

Friday was a long day of rehearsals, and sectionals.  For some of us, it was the first time we had played with such a full sounding band.  I mean 3 Tubas, 3 Baritones, and 8 Trombones - what a Low Brass Section!

Saturday went by in a blink.  Our concert was well attended by our extended families - check out the recording in the podcast!
